ABERDEENSHIRE, SCOTLAND FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY
In a way, I kind of feel like I’ve been beating a dead horse with this (a horrible saying really, isn’t it?). But then in other ways, I’m too excited to care! When I started this photography journey I had no idea where it would take me, who I would meet, the connections I’d make. Picking up a camera twelve years ago is by far one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I just didn’t know it then.
When you’re in a career within the arts one of the most rewarding accomplishments is when you see your work in print. There’s something about seeing your photos used in magazines or newspapers or books that validates what you do day in and day out. I never feel that I deserve that recognition but I will always be thankful for it.
When Kate from Kate’s of Inverurie approached me with a very short deadline (as in, a few days) to get photos of their food for a cookbook collaboration I was all over that! Over the past two years I have been developing my skills as a cook and baker. I cook and bake for people at every opportunity and from this has developed a love of food photography. I was so excited to help them create images that would reflect the beauty of their dishes.
Now I have a copy of the cookbook in my hand with the final images and it honestly feels like a dream come true. I have this huge dream of one day publishing a book. On what? I couldn’t even tell you (if you have any insight into what that book could be about please share! 😀 ) so having work of mine included in a book that is sold on Amazon and in local bookstores feels AMAZING! My image may not be on the cover of every single copy like it is on the one below but I’ll take it!
I just had to share photos of the cookbook and photos that I took for Kate. Enjoy! 🙂
