Richmond, VA Birth Photography
Anna is one of my dearest friends and a fellow photographer (go check her out! Anna Laero Photography) so of course it was a no brainer that I would volunteer to photograph the birth of her second son! With this being my first birth experience (besides giving birth to my own daughter), I was nervous about how it would go, what time I should arrive, what my roll would be as a photographer and friend but it was such an amazing miracle to witness!
Oh, how I loved being there for this special moment in Anna's life. It was such an honor!
Anna had a really rough pregnancy. Her first pregnancy was no picnic either and with this one she was so sick and miserable the entire time. With her first son she was forced to have a c-section and knew that she wanted to have a VBAC with baby James if at all possible. And boy did she manage! Labor was long and hard but with all of her determination she had the birth you so longed for! I arrived at seven in the evening and she had James the next morning around eleven. While I knew that I needed to capture the moments of the birth I also knew that I needed to be there as a support and a friend. Having no family in town I was the coffee runner, the comic relief and the bringer of rest for her husband.
I am excited for Anna to blog about her son's birth for his first birthday in May. I can't believe how quickly time has flown! Anna will be the one to photograph my own son's birth next month! <3
All this to say, I LOVE photographing births. Along with weddings, the joy and honor that comes from being asked to photograph a baby coming into this world is beyond compare.
